Holy Trinity School Receives Community Impact Grant

Holy Trinity Catholic School was awarded a $5,000 Community Impact Grant from New York Life Insurance Company. The grant will support the school’s science equipment and library materials to assist with the current implementation of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) which calls for ever increasing devotion to inquiry based and problem-solving learning, incorporation of engineering concepts and assessments of learning that result in a product.

Materials that are being purchased with the grant include scientific measuring containers for liquids, like beakers and graduated cylinders; building materials, like wood or plastic blocks and modeling clay; and basic scientific equipment like pan balances, digital thermometers and magnet sets. These materials will facilitate creation of unit-based kits for each science unit.

“We are pleased that our partnership will have a long-lasting impact on Holy Trinity and the population they serve,” said New York Life Managing Partner and Holy Trinity School Board member, Michael Gavin.

The Community Impact Grant program awards grants to local nonprofit organizations championed by New York Life employees and agents to service the needs of their local communities. Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 500 grants totaling nearly $7 million have been awarded to nonprofits across the county
